MIDOR is an Egyptian joint stock company established in 1994 to become Egypt’s leading oil refinery. MIDOR is one of the most advanced refineries in Africa and the Mediterranean; reaching a standard of 12.1, according to Nelson complexity Index, based on Solomon study for the year 2016. The refinery capacity reached 5.5 million tons/year (115000 bbl/d) after first phase of expansions. MIDOR has 8 main units licensed by international companies. The Hydrocracker licensed by UOP (33,500 bbl/d) and Delayed Coker by Conoco Bechtel (25,650 bbl/d). Annual production in MT: LPG 140K, High Octane Gasoline 1M, Jet Fuel 900K, Diesel 2.1M, Coke 400K, Sulphur 80 K. MIDOR exports its products through its own jetty at Dekheila port. MIDOR scope of activities was extended to “Processing for others”, “High sulfur Gasoil blending & treatment”, “Crude vs Products Swap” and “Long term contracts for crude supply and products sales”. MIDOR’s strategy is based on achieving a balance between renovation and development to reach ultimate economic operation and maximizing the added value, led to future expansions. The 2nd phase of expansions plan will increase refinery capacity to reach 175000 bbl/d, maximize production of middle distillates, and Midor products will meet Euro 5 specifications.
